Using the Fill Handle in Excel

The fill handle is a helpful tool for copying cell content to nearby cells. It is a quick alternative to the copy-and-paste commands. Here's how to use it:

Copying Content with the Fill Handle

  1. Select the cell(s): Choose the cell(s) that contain the content you want to copy.
  2. Hover over the corner: Move your mouse to the lower-right corner of the selected cell. The fill handle will appear as a small square.

  3. Click and drag: Click and drag the fill handle to select the cells you want to fill. For example, to fill cells G13 to G17, drag the handle down to include these cells.

  4. Release the mouse: Let go of the mouse button. The content will be copied to the selected cells.
