Tips for Cleaning Computer Surfaces

Dust and dirt can build up on your computer case and monitor. Cleaning them regularly helps keep your computer in good condition.

  • Dust is harmful. Use an anti-static cloth to remove dust. Do not use furniture cleaners or strong chemicals.
  • Use compressed air. Blow out dust from air intake slots.

  • Use a safe cleaning solution. Mix ammonia with water or use a mild glass cleaner.
  • Wipe the case and monitor housing. Spray cleaner on a paper towel or anti-static cloth. Wipe gently in a downward motion.

Keep Your Computer Cool

Computers generate heat. Good airflow is important.

  • Do not block airflow. Avoid placing books or papers around your computer.
  • Check your desk setup. If your desk has a compartment for the computer, leave space at the back.
  • Keep the door open. If the compartment has a door, keep it open to allow airflow.

Regular cleaning and proper airflow help your computer last longer.
